When you think of the process of putting your position(s) out there and finding potential talent to add to your team, Instagram might not be the first place you imagine turning to. Places like LinkedIn, Facebook, or just your own website are more likely to pop into mind, but that doesn’t mean Instagram isn’t also a great place to look.
Especially in the wedding world, visuals are everything. Your potential clients look for photos of your creations, whether you’re a planner, photographer, florist, etc., and Instagram is the #1 app most wedding pros are active on due to the fact that it’s so visual. So, potential team members being active on Instagram is no surprise either!
We’ve walked you through how to use other platforms like LinkedIn and Facebook groups to hire, and today we’ll show you how to use Instagram to find potential team members, too!
Convey Your Company Culture Through Your Posts
Hiring on Instagram is more than just posting a “we’re hiring” graphic and hoping you’ll receive applications. It’s important that when potential team members browse through your profile, they can accurately get a feel for your company culture and envision what it would be like to work with you.
This means making sure your mission is conveyed in your bio or in a Highlight, showcasing appreciation for other employees (if applicable), sharing what the office space is like (if your team won’t be remote), those kinds of things.
Show what day-to-day life is like for your business and what you do. Highlight celebrations and milestones, and share behind-the-scenes or day-in-the-life posts or Stories. Don’t be afraid to have fun!
Use Hashtags & Share Your Location
Be sure to use relevant hashtags in your hiring posts, like #jobopportunity, #nowhiring, #newjobs, for example. Use specific ones as well related to the job position. For instance, if you’re hiring wedding planners in Minnesota, you might use the hashtag #minnesotaweddingplanner, or get even more specific with what city you’re located in.
Speaking of location, tag the location of your business in the hiring post, so it will display at the top underneath your username. This way, people can see right off the bat where you’re located. If you’re hiring for a remote position, include that in the caption preferably at the very beginning, so you can repel and attract.
Where to Post That You’re Hiring on Instagram
To make sure you let as many people know as possible that you’re hiring, there are various places you can post the big news that will get more eyes on your position(s) and receive more engagement and applications!
On your Instagram feed
Of course, this is the most obvious place! Share a great graphic that announces you’re hiring. Be sure to encourage others to share the post to their Stories.
On your Instagram Stories
Don’t forget about your Stories! You can either post a separate graphic just for Stories, or you can share your feed post to your Stories. We’d recommend posting a short slide series that shares what your company is about, position details, where to apply, etc.
Add a line in your Instagram bio
You may want to edit your Instagram bio to announce that you’re “Now hiring” with some fun emojis to draw attention to it. That way, anyone who visits your profile will know that they can apply.
Create a Story Highlight –
Once your Story or Story series goes live, create a Highlight on your profile to showcase those Stories. This will make sure anyone who visits your profile sees not just the line in your bio, but the posts of information as well.
Add your application link to your bio
Direct profile visitors to the application link in your bio. If you use a tool like Linktr.ee to create a landing page instead, be sure to add a button to your application there.
Create an Instagram Reel
Creating Reels is a super fun way to show your personality and company culture through video! Search common hiring hashtags to see what others are doing for ideas.
