Be Sure to Show Up
It’s an Integrity Thing!
We’ve all been there. Honestly, the week isn’t going great. A bunch of things came up that weren’t on the schedule which ended up taking way too much of your time. That new couple that was so interested in working with you now keeps putting you off. And now you just remembered tonight’s the night for that new networking event you said you’d attend. Ugh!
You just don’t feel like going and talking to people you don’t even know. You’re already tired, drained, and don’t feel like being ‘social’. Besides you only told one person that you’d attend. Certainly, they would completely understand if you just decided to stay home and relax. You can just talk with them tomorrow and explain everything.

SO, WHAT DO YOU DO?
You Go! If you told ANYONE that you were going to show up, then you need to show up. For so many reasons. Here are a few:
- Accountability
Accountability is a key principle of success, especially in business. People need to know that you’re a person of your word. That you do what you say you’re going to do. It’s great to be a person others know they can trust.
- Integrity
When you do what you say you’re going to do your words and actions align. That consistency of talk and action are the hallmark of integrity. Don’t ever risk harming your integrity. Once you lose it, it is really hard to recover.
- Self-Respect
The integrity we build by showing up doesn’t just let others know we’re dependable, it let’s us know we’re dependable. We develop a stronger internal picture of who we are and what we deserve to have in our lives.
- Trust
We’re all questioning who we can trust, and who we have to be careful believing in. And when we show up, it’s just one more feather in our cap letting others know they can trust us.
- Reputation
As wedding professionals our reputation might just be our most important asset. We build our reputation through every decision and every action we take. Coming through on our commitments, regardless of how we feel at the moment, builds a strong reputation.
DON’T BE ‘THAT’ VENDOR
On the flip side, we all know those people that can’t be trusted, are unaccountable, and have a reputation of not showing up or not coming through when needed. (Your energy level probably dropped just reading that sentence.) You don’t want to do that to the people around you.
So be a person of your word, and SHOW UP!
